Rob Agerbeek is a very experienced allround musician.
Ten years ago Anna and Rob played together already, in Anna’s 5-tet. Now, they got together again, to play with duo piano-vocal their rather lively mainstream repertoire, with songs as Cry Me A River, Nothing Like The Blues and Love For Sale.
They both get touched by jazz of course, but maybe they also share the way they found their ways in jazz being both self-taught musicians.
The very sympathetic Rob Agerbeek performed all over the world with many musicians: baritone saxophone player Lars Gullin and The Jazz Messengers of Art Blakey, The Diamond Five, Nelson Williams, tenor saxophone player Don Byas, tenor saxophone player Ben Webster. Later also with the Dutch Swing College Band and still of course with his own trio. His style is related to Horace Silver. Beside this he is a well appreciated Boogie Woogie pianist.
Through the years he got very appreciated as guiding pianist of many great American jazz musicians and singers.
“In all of these different entourages he knows to keep his own style. His musical intensions are being clear and logical. They go back to his firstĀ experience with blues and boogie-woogie, and these have been completed with elements of the bebop and hardbop.”
